About relayNET
We created relayNET in May
2001 as a response to a world in which poverty and violence are
increasing daily. Having seen for ourselves the plight of people
in Kenya, Togo, Zambia and Ghana and seeing the increasing possibilities
that exist for supporting and helping people in those communities
it seemed to us a good use of our time, money and effort to create
an organisation with the possibility to improve things. |
 |
|
relayNET started as a
project to collect and recycle useful items such as computers, mobile
phones, children's books and clothes, medical equipment and anything
else, that, although they may be dated and unfashionable in our
society, still have some usefulness in other places. |
Since then, our ideas have got bigger and we have
started to develop a number of projects that deal with issues such
as poverty alleviation through micro-financing initiatives, community
development, education/literacy and HIV/AIDS awareness for people
who are socially excluded both in the UK and overseas. |
 |
Helping others to help themselves
All of our projects share something in common and
that is the hope that we can create a world based on the following
principles:
- The location of human life as the central value
in society
- The equality of all people of the world
- The diversity of people and cultures
- The freedom of beliefs and ideas
- The resolution of disputes using methods of non-violence
Our method is one of team building and creating self-sufficiency
and cascade learning with a very great emphasis on helping people
to help others and themselves at the same time. |

We need some help
We don't expect that our ideals can be realised in
a short period of time. We also recognise that we have not created
the problems of the world. Therefore we are asking people who feel
some affinity with these ideas to assist us in our project. We can
assure you that any assistance you give us of any kind will be gratefully
received and targeted directly at those who need it. |
Our policy is to work with people in a voluntary manner. No one gets paid for their efforts
with relayNET in the UK and we aim to keep it that way. |
